Get2Business 2009There was a relaxed yet professional buzz surrounding the Orton Hall Hotel in Peterborough on Friday 19th June as Amanda Carlin and her inspiring team delivered their first Get2Business 09 event. A number of exhibitors attended and industry leading speakers delivered presentations, from Ashley Law, Business Link, Fearless Living and Internet with Integrity all of which were educational and very beneficial.
"The day turned out very differently to how I'd expected," said Amanda Carlin, "our feedback indicates the same thing because the event was incredibly friendly, very honest and there was so much business networking going on, I believe everyone attending gained business from the event and there was a remarkable energy about the place. In beautiful surroundings too, it was the perfect setting."
G2B09 is all about helping people who want to get into business do just that, from making their dreams a reality to working out which area to go into or those that have started a business recently to have proper advice on how to manage growth, cashflow etc. All those attending left with good and honest advice on the best way to go about achieving their goals and in today's climate good advice is what is needed to have a successful business.
There was a great deal of positivity from the attendees and one of the most spectacular outcomes of the day was for SDSA Motorcycle Couriers, who gained a client from Folkestone who had driven all the way to Peterborough because he'd heard the company were exhibiting. "The attendees were so happy with the outcome of the day, what they'd learnt and the contacts they'd made, we were asked to carry out more G2B09 events," said Amanda, "and so having been given such positive feedback that is exactly what we did. Our follow up events were held at the beautiful Garden House Hotel in Stamford on Friday, 6th November and the imposing Boathouse in Wisbech on Friday, 11th December."
November's event in Stamford was friendly, busy and a joy to be involved with. The venue located towards the outskirts of Stamford, was the perfect setting for our event with plenty of parking available for delegates and exhibitors. Those travelling in from far afield flew into Stansted or took the train from London. The Garden House Hotel is perfect for an overnight stay, being comfortable and friendly. Additionally, the food and service was simply also out of this world.
Two new speakers joined us for the event, beststart HR, giving excellent HR and employment law tips and iLaw a City based law firm specialising in employment law. We learnt of the possible pitfalls in employment law and how easy it is to be caught out if one is not careful. We all found the day, interesting and engaging. Once again a great deal of business networking was achieved.
December's event was held at Wisbech's state of the art, new and imposing, waterfront venue - The Boathouse. What a stunning building and location it is?! Plenty of parking, customer service that is, second to none and every possible facility and function one could possibly need from a venue. Once again, the business networking was tremendous, friendly and honest. The speakers were engaging and informative and in December we were joined by Corporate Image Consultant, Sue Donnelly from Accentuate.Me. Sue gave an excellent talk on image, how it effects the way we do business and how other's perceive us and the way do business. All fascinating stuff.
The G2B09 events will continue in 2010 as regular, structured yet refreshing business networking events and will be called Get2Business, with a regional section specifically for women in business called, Fenland Women of Achievement or FOWA! We are presently developing strategies for the way forward and please do watch this space for more information. In the meantime if you would like to be added to our mailing list to be kept fully updated, please send an email to: news@amandacarlin.co.uk with Mailing List in the subject line.
